A motorcyclist who died yesterday in Co Limerick after a collision with a car was the 100th person to be killed on the State's roads so far this year.

The man was fatally injured in the crash on the main Limerick to Killarney road. He came off his bike after colliding with a car on the N21 Rathkeale bypass at Reens, Ardagh, Co Limerick at 3.15pm.

He was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital where he was treated for his injuries, but subsequently died.

There were no other injuries in the collision.
