Motorcyclist dies during road race

A motorbike rider was killed in a race in north Dublin yesterday.

A motorbike rider was killed in a race in north Dublin yesterday.

The competitor’s bike skidded before colliding with a padded pole during the Skerries 100 Road Race.

The 36-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. A male spectator sustained leg injuries in the incident and was taken to Beaumont Hospital.

The remainder of the event was cancelled after the fatality.
