The mother of the young Romanian man whose body was found in a suitcase in Dublin's Royal Canal collapsed and was taken to hospital during his funeral yesterday.

Ms Mariana Moraru fainted at Mr Adrian Bestea's grave in the Calea Sagului graveyard in Timisoara, western Romania.

A family representative, who asked not to be named, said they were too upset to talk about the trauma they experienced after Mr Bestea's body was discovered on July 20th. But he praised the reception family members were accorded when they went to Ireland.

More than 300 family members and friends crowded into the graveyard for the Romanian Orthodox service. They heard Father Borza, the family's priest, tell how Adrian loved life. "He was a popular boy who had many friends here and in Ireland," he said.
