A BABY girl was reunited with her mother yesterday in Galway, less than 24 hours after she had been abandoned at University College Hospital.
The mother phoned the accident and emergency unit on Sunday afternoon to say she had left the five month old baby in her buggy in a corridor because she felt unable to cope.
However, she responded to a Garda appeal that she make contact on the understanding she would be helped in the strictest confidence.
She phoned Mill Street station and the two were reunited shortly before midday yesterday, a Garda spokesman said.
The baby was in excellent heath and had been well looked after with five full bottles of milk left in the buggy with her. The baby, who was said to have colic, had been kept overnight in the hospital's paediatric unit.
