London - The wife of author and former barrister Sir John Mortimer (76) has told of their ordeal at receiving death threats, hate-mail and razor blades through the post from animal rights campaigners.
Penny Mortimer (52), an occasional huntswoman, has also received envelopes filled with excrement at their Buckinghamshire home. Her husband, famous for his Rumpole of the Bailey, has been the target of anonymous late-night telephone calls because of his open defence of fox hunting.
