Molloy rescues Rovers a point at Belfield

UCD 2 Shamrock Rovers 2

An injury-time strike from Trevor Molloy rescued a point for Shamrock Rovers in a thrilling match against UCD at Belfield Park today.

Bottom of the table UCD took the lead early in the second half when Darragh Ryan tucked away a rebound after Rovers keeper Barry Ryan parried an Alan Cawley effort.

But Rovers clawed their way back into the contest on 64 minutes when substitute Glen Fitzpatrick headed home a James Keddy cross.

UCD looked to have sealed the three points when, in the 90th minute, Robert McAuley slotted home from the penalty spot after he had been brought down in the area by Stephen Grant.

Yet, there was a final twist to this absorbing contest as Molloy beat UCD 'keeper Patrick Jennings two minutes into injury time to salvage a point.
