Sky watchers will be able to see the Russian Mir Space Station and the US Space Shuttle, Atlantis, flying in formation this Thursday morning. The shuttle docked with Mir last Saturday to pick up an American astronaut and drop off a British one and to deliver supplies and equipment. They will uncouple on Thursday at about 3a.m. and be visible in the southeastern sky by 3.30 a.m., according to Mr Colm Cannon, of Astronomy Ireland.
Those hoping to view the sight should contact Astronomy Ireland's news line. The number is 1550-111-442 in the Republic and in Northern Ireland, 0891-88-1950.
