The annual security awards were presented in Dublin yesterday by the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Mr O'Donoghue, on behalf of the Irish Security Industry Association. Mr Tom McCaughren, security correspondent with RTE, received the premier award for his reporting over 20 years.

Other recipients of awards were: four teenagers from Drogheda, Ms Berni Thornton, Ms Suzanne Murphy, Ms Lorna Kenny and Mr Brian Maguire, for their project "Crime Against the Elderly"; Ms Colette O'Sullivan, a Dublin Institute of Technology student; and

Chief Supt Michael Carolan, for his support for groups in the Clondalkin area.
