The new members appointed to the Broadcasting Complaints Commission were announced today by the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, Noel Dempsey.
Senior Counsel Michael McGrath is the chairman of the new commission which will have a five-year term.
The commission is charged with examining and adjudicating on complaints about radio and television broadcasters licenced to operate within the State.
Complaints can be lodged regarding all content including programmes and advertisements. The Commission pays particular attention to impartiality and slander in news programmes and issues of taste, law and order and privacy.
Mr McGrath is joined on the board by; Sean O'Sullivan, Eucharia Meehan, David Main, David Tighe, Miriam O'Callaghan, Joe Brady, Susan Nolan and Phil Brady.
