London - One person was arrested yesterday when police officers and members of the security services searched two addresses in Birmingham with warrants issued under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, writes Rachel Donnelly.

West Midlands police said the warrants were executed during the investigation of terrorist offences committed outside the UK. The police are believed to be investigating "Islamic extremist terrorist activities".
