Mexico City - President Ernesto Zedillo has said in an interview that his government was doing all it could to restore peace to Mexico's troubled state of Chiapas but it was up to Zapatista rebels to come to the negotiating table.

The Zapatista Army for National Liberation (EZLN) led an uprising by indigenous Indians in 1994, fighting for land reform and improved rights for Indians.
