A one-year-old Co Antrim child was critically ill in hospital yesterday with suspected meningitis. The child, from Doury Road, Ballymena, is suffering from what is believed to be the meningococcal strain of the disease. He is being treated in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Belfast.
