Gardaí have named the two men who died in separate crashes over the weekend.

Ronan McCormack (26), of Oaklawn Drive, Racecourse Road, Roscommon, was killed when his car was involved in a collision with another car on the N61 Athlone to Roscommon Road at 1.20am on Saturday.

The driver and passenger of the second car were taken to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

On Friday evening, William Barnes (82), of Ballyboyle, Stradbally, Co Waterford, died in a two-vehicle collision.
