Two men will appear in court this morning in connection with a cannabis seizure in Co Meath at the weekend.
On Friday, gardaí seized drugs worth an estimated €240,000 following what they described as a planned operation targeting the activities of a north Dublin criminal gang.
Gardaí from the Organised Crime Unit stopped two vans on the N2 at Kenstown near Navan on Friday afternoon. Cannabis herb with an estimated street value of up to €84,000 was seized, and two men were arrested and held at Finglas Garda station under section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
Two men aged 41 and 46 are appearing before Navan District Court this morning.
In a follow-up search at a home in Navan the same day, a further quantity of cannabis herb with an estimated street value of up to €156,000 (pending analysis) was seized and a third man arrested.
This man was detained at Kells Garda station under the same drugs legislation. He was released without charge last night, and investigations are ongoing.
