Three men were being questioned today after a loaded machine-pistol and 50 bullets were seized in Derry last night.
Three men were held when a car was stopped and searched by a police patrol, an RUC spokesman said. The incident occurred at the junction of Northland Road and Eden Terrace near the city centre at 10.10.
British army bomb experts were called to examine the vehicle. People from nearby homes were evacuated for several hours until the scene was declared safe.
