DENVER - The defence for Mr Timothy McVeigh yesterday cross examined a former friend of the accused killer who had said that he told her of his plan to bomb an Oklahoma federal building.

Mr Stephen Jones, Mr McVeigh's main defence attorney, recalled that Ms Lori Fortier had admitted on the witness stand on Tuesday that she had lied several times to FBI investigators and suggested that she was trying to make money from her version of the bombing.
