Mr Derek Nally has said Prof Mary McAleese should clarify publicly whether or not she has been "pushing the Sinn Fein agenda". Speaking in Longford yesterday, Mr Nally said there were "serious questions" arising from the leaked memoranda, in one of which the Coalition's presidential candidate is reported as being one of three people who were "in reality pushing the Sinn Fein agenda".
Mr Nally said he would have concerns about anyone who was close to Sinn Fein at a time when there was no ceasefire in place, although he would have no problem with persons holding discussions with the party. He also expressed concern at the leaking of official documents to the media, and said that while all sides were condemning these leaks, people were still taking advantage of them.
