The 74-year-old man who died in a fire early yesterday in west Dublin has been named as Mr Patrick Corcoran. The man, who lived alone, was described locally as an eccentric figure.

i described the man's home was as a "rambling shack" surrounded by "junk".

The building where he lived caught fire at about midnight and neighbours alerted the Dublin Fire Brigade. However, they were unable to save Mr Corcoran. It is believed an electric bar heater may have caused the fire.
