A man is in a serious condition in hospital today after being attacked at a service station in Dublin city centre early this morning.

The man in his thirties was taken to St James's Hospital at 6.30 a.m. after the assault at the garage on Usher's Quay.

However his condition later deteriorated and was transferred to Beaumont Hospital where he is being treated for head injuries.

A Garda spokeswoman said no arrests had yet been made over the incident.
