A man was stabbed in the eye when he tackled and disarmed a man armed with a crossbow in Co Tyrone, police revealed today.
The householder was taken to hospital with a serious injury after the incident last Friday in Coalisland.
The PSNI said around 3.30am a disturbance broke out at Innishmore Park in Coalisland and a man was seen carrying a loaded crossbow.
One of the residents challenged the armed man and struggled with him to take the weapon away. During the struggle he was stabbed in one eye with a knife.
A 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were subsequently arrested and charged — the man remanded in custody and the woman bailed — both to appear at Dungannon magistrates court next week, said the PSNI.
