Man shot in Co Kildare village

A 25 year-old man is in hospital after he was shot and injured in the Co Kildare village of Kilcock earlier today.

A 25 year-old man is in hospital after he was shot and injured in the Co Kildare village of Kilcock earlier today.

Gardaí said the shooting happened between 11.45am and noon. The victim was sitting in his car at Brayton Park when he was attacked.

He was taken to Blanchardstown hospital where he is being treated for gunshot wounds. His condition is understood to be not life-threatening.

Gardaí later found a dark-coloured car burnt out at Courtown Wood, Kilcock about 1km from the scene of the shooting.
