A man (25) was hospitalised after being shot in south Belfast last night.

A man (25) was hospitalised after being shot in south Belfast last night.

The man was shot in the right leg in what appears to have been a paramilitary style attack, a spokeswoman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said. He was attacked at the junction of Matilda Drive and Donegal Road at about 8 p.m.

In a separate incident, a woman (46) has been hospitalised after she was shot in the abdomen in what is reported to have been a domestic dispute in Lisburn, Co Antrim. Her condition is described as "serious".

A man (40) has been arrested, a police spokesman said.
