A murder investigation has been launched after a man in his forties was shot dead in the Dublin suburb of Santry last night.
It is understood up to four shots were fired at the junction of Old Town Road and Shanliss Road just before 10 p.m.
A Garda spokesman said the man suffered wounds to the head. Deputy state pathologist Dr Maire Cassidy examined the body at the scene - which has been preserved for examination later today.
The man has not yet been identified.
