A traveller who admitted viciously attacking another Traveller in a neighbouring halting site has been given a three-year suspended sentence.

Noel McGinley (39), Bridgeview, Clondalkin, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and committing violent disorder at St Oliver's Park, Clondalkin, in May 1997 during an attack on the Power Traveller family. McGinley was ordered to pay £2,000 in the next three months or be sent to prison.
