A man in his 20s has appeared at a special sitting of Kilkenny District Court in connection with the killing of a postmaster in the city on Friday.
Shu Shen of no fixed abode was charged with the murder of Alan Cunniffe (32) who was shot in the stomach during a raid on a post office in John's Green just off John Street.
Cunniffe died just hours later in hospital. Mr Shu was also charged with the robbery of €13,760 from the post office
He did not reply to either charge and was remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court next Tuesday.
