Man remanded over fatal Co Galway stabbing

A 19-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Co Galway last night.

A 19-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Co Galway last night.

Mr Daniel O'Neill of Clontuskerg, Ballinasloe was stabbed during a fight which occurred in Hymany Park, Ballinasloe, at 11 p.m. He was taken to Portiuncula Hospital and later removed by ambulance to a Dublin Hospital. However, he died en route.

Mr Christopher McLoughlin (19), from Curragh Park, Ballinasloe was charged with assaulting Mr O'Neill under Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Persons Act.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Castlereagh District Court on Friday.

An application that he be released on bail was rejected.
