Gardaí investigating a fire in Bray, Co Wicklow which resulted in the death of two part-time firemen are continuing to question a man in his 50s who was arrested early this morning.
The man was arrested under Section 13 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Persons Act (endangerment) and is being held at Bray Garda station.
The man is the third person to be questioned over the deaths.
A woman was arrested in October while a man in his 40s was detained in September.
Both were released without charge.
The gardaí, Wicklow County Council and the Health and Safety Authority launched separate investigations following the blaze. It is understood the latest arrest was made after detectives arranged to interview the suspect under caution today.
The two fire fighters, Mark O'Shaughnessy and (26) and Brian Murray (46), died September 26th, 2007 when they were called to the scene of the fire at a disused factory in the town and the roof collapsed.
Mr Murray, a father of 13 children, was a sub-officer in Bray, second in charge of a station of 15 firefighters. His younger colleague, Mr O'Shaughnessy, was single.
An inquest into the men’s deaths opened in November last year at Dublin County Coroner’s Court and was adjourned until this March to allow the garda inquiry into the deaths continue.
