A Co Down lorry driver was charged at the Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday with smuggling two million cigarettes from the Continent.

Mr David William Hanna, (28), of Kilhorne Court, Annaloag, was arrested last Friday at Dover docks as he drove off a ferry from Calais. The duty payable is estimated at £200,000.

Mr Hanna was remanded on his own bail of £1,000 and a surety of £10,000 to appear in court again on May 19th.
