A financial services worker who rented two flats in Dublin in which cannabis valued at about £6 million was processed for distribution has been remanded for sentence.

David Ryan (26), of Mountain Villas, Church Road, Killiney, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to conspiring with two others to possess cannabis for sale or supply between March 1st and August 31st, 1998.

Judge Yvonne Murphy adjourned sentencing until May 25th so that she could give consideration to defence submissions by Mr Michael O'Higgins SC.

Ryan was arrested at Dublin Airport on his way to England in March 2000. Det Sgt Whelan told the court that Ryan had told them that a total of 600 kilos of cannabis had been processed over a few months. This amount would have an estimated street value of £6 million.
