A man has appeared before Dublin District Court charged in connection with a bomb alert in the city last week, which closed Dame Street for two hours. Mr Paul Carwood (33), of no fixed abode, was charged by Det Garda P.J. Conway with making a phone call to give rise to fear among people in South Great George's Street.

In court Garda Conway asked for a week's remand and a medical report. Mr Carwood was remanded in custody with consent to bail in his own bond of £50 with an independent bail of £100. He is to appear again on October 24th.
