A man was held hostage in Dublin yesterday in an attempt to steal cash from a a security van.
The 29-year-old was taken from his home in Gateway Mews, Ballymun at gunpoint yesterday morning and held for the day.
However, he was released unharmed yesterday evening in Dunsoghly, St Margarets.
Detectives have appealed for witnesses who were in the Gateway Mews area between 8am and 9am or in the Dunsoghly area between 5pm and 7pm.
No money was stolen during this incident.
