A Cork man was jailed for 12 years yesterday for breaking into the home of a father of six and stabbing him with a Stanley knife, carving an X on the victim's back.

William Hogan (41), from Annalea Grove, Mayfield, Cork, pleaded guilty to assault causing harm to Mr John O'Carroll on March 21st, 2000.
