A man who forced schoolgirls to rate each other's sexual performances while he abused them has been sent to prison for breaching bail conditions by contacting one of his victims.
Judge Kieran O'Connor said it was a "total and complete" breach of bail conditions and said he had no option but to imprison the man until he is sentenced on May 17th.
The defendant had sent a mobile phone to one of the girls' homes in an attempt to get around a court order preventing him from having any contact with her.
On April 14th, he pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to 17 sample counts of sexual abuse on six girls at his home and in a city centre hotel.
The girls, all aged between 12 and 15, were enticed to the man's house between mid-1992 and early 1996.
Garda Eddie McBride told prosecuting counsel Ms Mary Ellen Ring that on April 30th, the defendant hired a fast-food delivery man to bring a mobile phone to the girl's home.
She had accepted the phone, but when she heard the voice of her attacker she hung up.
He later told gardai his attempt to contact the woman was "a stupid thing to do".
Defence counsel Mr George Bermingham said his client wrongly believed he could get around the court order by using telecommunications to contact his victim.
Judge Kieran O'Connor said he felt very disappointed with the accused and ordered that he be taken into custody immediately.
