A Co Louth man was sentenced to four years' imprisonment at Trim Circuit Court yesterday for sexually assaulting a three year old girl between last March and April.
Imposing sentence Judge Patrick Smith recommended that the man obtain treatment.
The judge said he found it difficult to believe what had happened to this girl. He referred to a psychiatric report which found that the child suffers from nightmares and incontinence, is withdrawn, fondles her genitals and those of others, is aggressive towards other children and moody, and is fearful of going out, particularly in case she meets the accused man.
