A man suffered leg and hand injuries when his van was hit by gunfire at a petrol station on the Moy Road in Portadown, Co Armagh, on Saturday, writes Monika Unsworth.
Sources close to loyalist paramilitaries said the attack could have been part of a feud between the Loyalist Volunteer Force (LVF) and the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) in the Portadown area. However, the leader of the Progressive Unionist Party, the UVF's political wing, Mr David Ervine, said it was too early to draw any conclusions.
Meanwhile, a 49-year-old man is in a critical condition after being stabbed outside a bar in east Belfast's Albertbridge Road early yesterday. Police have appealed for witnesses.
On Saturday, a 23-year-old man suffered a head wound, broken elbow and bruising when a number of masked men beat him with iron bars in the Poleglass estate at the outskirts of west Belfast.
The RUC has begun a murder investigation after the body of a man was discovered in a south Belfast flat on Sunday. Mr Alistair David Holmes (30) was found with multiple injuries at the Eglantine Avenue flat.
