A man is in a serious condition in hospital today after being shot in Holywood, Co Down.

The attack happened at a flat at West Green in the town last night, a police spokeswoman confirmed.

The victim was shot in the chest, stomach and both elbows and knees. An ambulance arrived to take him to hospital just after 10pm.

Detectives in Bangor have appealed for information. They have yet to establish a motive for the attack.

Police are also investigating a second shooting a few miles away in east Belfast.

A man is being treated in hospital with a gunshot wound to his groin after he was found in a car park at Ravenscroft Avenue near Holywood Arches, at around 11.30 p.m. last night.
