Man in London court over killing in Dublin

A homeopathic doctor has made his first appearance at the Old Bailey today charged with murdering a woman from Wicklow.

A homeopathic doctor has made his first appearance at the Old Bailey today charged with murdering a woman from Wicklow.

Mr Christopher Newman (60), formerly of St Peter's Road, Walkinstown, Dublin, and now of Catford, southeast London, spoke only to confirm his name during the brief hearing.

He was remanded in custody to a plea and directions hearing on August 12th.

Mr Newman is accused of stabbing to death Georgina Eager(29) in Dublin on or before May22nd.

Mr Newman, also known by the name of Saph Dean, was arrested in a black taxi on Westminster Bridge, just minutes before gardaí discovered Ms Eager's body.

Ms Eager, a doctor's secretary, was stabbed to death at her home in St Peter's Road, Walkinstown, Dublin.
