Gardaí are continuing to question a 22-year-old man arrested last night in connection with the discovery of a man’s body in Co Tipperary.

The dead man, named locally as James McInerney (56), was found at a house at Lacey Avenue, Templemore at about 10.40pm.

Gardaí arrested the suspect close to the scene a short time later. He is being held at Templemore Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A Garda spokesman said the investigation was ongoing but that detectives are not looking for any other suspects in connection with the man’s death.

The man can initially be questioned for up to 24 hours, but this period of detention may be extended to facilitate the investigation.
