A man is 40s was arrested following a discovery of €350,000 worth of drugs last night.
The Drugs Unit in Cork arrested the man on Lower Glanmire Road and seized 5kgs of cocaine in a sportsbag.
A Garda spokesman said: "The man is in his early forties and believed to be a Nigerian National. He is being detained under drug trafficking legislation at Mayfield Garda Station and can be held for up to seven days."
Gardai believe the cocaine was to be sold locally.
