A man had an arm and a leg broken after being abducted and beaten in Cork last night.

A man had an arm and a leg broken after being abducted and beaten in Cork last night.

The man in his twenties was bundled into a white van on Great William O'Brien Street, Blackpool, at 8 p.m.

He was taken to a field a number of miles away where he was beaten with iron bars and concrete blocks. As well as broken limbs he suffered severe bruising to the body, a Garda spokeswoman said.

The man was found at 10 p.m. and taken to Cork University Hospital. Gardaí have yet to establish a motive for the attack.
