A 31-year-old man was yesterday jailed for six years after he pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of a father of three whom he left lying in a pool of blood following a row after a late-night drinking session together.

John O’Driscoll from Dan Corkery Place, Macroom, pleaded guilty to the unlawful killing of Don Geasley at Mr Geasley’s rented house at Masseytown, Macroom, on the night of September 14th-15th, 2011. Cork Circuit Criminal Court heard how Mr Geasey went drinking with O’Driscoll and the two returned to Mr Geasley’s house after they were refused any more drink in a local hotel.
