A 25-year-old Ennis man has been sentenced to five years' jail, with the final two years suspended, for kicking a Belgian man to death during a drunken fight in July 1999.

In the Central Criminal Court Eric Considine, of Stone Court, Drumbiggle, admitted the manslaughter of Walter van Dael (42) at a hostel in Ennis.
