The proprietor of a leading distance-learning college who sexually assaulted a young woman has been given a two-year suspended sentence by Judge Dominic Lynch at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. Charles Kilroy (60), a father of five from Mount Merrion, Co Dublin, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault which involved the improper touching of a 22year-old woman.

The incidents occurred between June 1998 and April 1999. Defence counsel Mr Hugh Hartnett SC said his client expressed regret for his actions and to support this he brought a sum of £25,000 to court.
