A 35-year-old man is due in court later today charged in connection with one of the biggest cannabis seizures in Northern Ireland.

Nearly 300kg of cannabis resin was found inside a white Transit van stopped by police in north Belfast yesterday.

Detectives believe the consignment has a street value of £1.5 million sterling. One man was arrested during the operation at Fortwilliam roundabout just before 11 a.m. yesterday.

The man will appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court later today.
