A GALWAY man walked free from the Central Criminal Court yesterday after he was cleared of the murder of his uncle in Connemara.

Mr Patrick Joseph McGreene (29), with addresses at Corrib Park and St Mary's Road, Galway, was acquitted of murdering his 53-year-old uncle Tom Clisham on a date unknown between November 24th 1997, and December 4th, 1997, at Inveran, Co Galway.

The jury of nine men and three women took just over an hour to find Mr McGreene not guilty on all counts.

After Mr McGreene was discharged, there were emotional scenes when he was embraced by well-wishers.
