A Portuguese man has been charged with the murder of his brother in a house in Portumna, Co Galway over the weekend.
Laurentino da Silva (45), with an address at Dominick Street in Portumna appeared before a special sitting of Loughrea District Court this afternoon charged with murdering his brother, Fernando.
Mr da Silva was remanded in custody until Friday, February 8th when he is due to appear at Harristown District and was granted legal aid.
