A man has been remanded in custody after he was charged with assaulting a woman who is in a coma following an attack in her Dublin home on Sunday.

Care worker Nicola Murray (28), a mother of three, sustained serious head injuries during an incident in her house in Reuben Walk, Rialto, Dublin, in the early hours of February 5th.

Ms Murray was found by her mother in her bedroom and she was rushed to Beaumont Hospital, where she remains in a stable but critical condition.

Paul McMenamy (26), Donomore Green, Tallaght, was brought before Dublin District Court yesterday.

He was charged under section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Persons Act. He is accused of assault causing harm to Ms Murray at her home, on February 5th.

He was remanded in custody to February 14th.
