A man has been remanded in custody charged in connection with the death of a man whose body was found at an apartment complex in the city on Thursday morning.

David Byrnes (24), with an address in Ballintemple, Co Cork  was charged at a special sitting of Limerick District Court with assault causing harm to Brendan McEvoy.

The body of Mr McEvoy (50), who was originally from Co Carlow,  was found on a stairway at the Cherrydale Orchard  complex on the Dublin Road. 

Mr Byrnes was granted free legal aid and was remanded in custody until next week. There was no application for bail.
