A man who fired a number of shots at a Garda car in Co Monaghan has been remanded in custody following a special sitting of the District Court in Ardee Co Louth.

Mr Michael Brennan (44) with an address at Glaslough, was charged with two counts under the Firearms Act and one of assault.

The incident happened at 11 pm on Thursday night when a Garda patrol car responded to a call.

Mr Brennan will appear at Cootehill District Court in Co Cavan on Tuesday February 17th.
