A MAN was last night charged with assault causing actual bodily harm to a 19 year old Co Monaghan man who was found dead early yesterday.

Mr Patrick Maguire, of Analore Street, Clones, was found lying on a footpath at Hill Street, Monaghan, shortly before 4 a.m. He was taken to Monaghan General Hospital, where he died at about 5.30 am.

Three men were arrested yesterday under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act in connection with the incident.

One man was charged shortly after 11 p.m. at Monaghan Garda Station, where he had been questioned throughout the day. He will appear in court in Clones this morning.

A second man, who was arrested in the early afternoon, was released shortly before midnight. A third man, who was arrested at about 6 p.m., was still being questioned early this morning.

The State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison, carried out a post mortem examination last night on the man who died.
